BT Buddies Day at Watford F.C.
Saturday 23rd October 2010
Watford F.C. Vs Scunthorpe
Thanks to the hardwork and determination of one man, Watford F.C. will be helping to raise awareness of brain tumours and the
work that BT Buddies does with a very special day of events.
When I asked Steve Brister to help me get football fans walking to/from a match to help our 'Walk Ar
ound the Coast' total, he jumped at the chance!
Within a few short weeks he had gained the support of Watford F.C. and arranged a meeting between me and the club to finalise arrangements. Returning after that meeting and telling Steve what the club had agreed to do gave me an awesome feeling inside and I know Steve was extremely proud of his club for being willing to do what we wanted and LOADS more!
Sadly, as many of you know, Steve won't be here to see the results of his hardwork, but, I have no doubt he will be with us in spirit!
So, Saturday 23rd October 2010 is your chance to join Watford F.C. players, management and fellow hornets in this unique event to help raise awareness of brain tumours.
BT Buddies is asking each of you to walk to and/or from the Scunthorpe match on the 23rd October, make a note of the distance you've covered, and then donate that distance to our 'Walk Around the Coast for Brain Tumours' total.
'Walk Around the Coast for Brain Tumours' is an attempt by BT Buddies to walk the 5,581 miles around the coast of England in support of International Brain Tumour Awareness. The miles walked will also be added to a world total and will help raise awareness of this devastating disease across the globe.
A full list of distances from popular Watford pubs and clubs as well as train stations, bus stations, and car parks, to Vicarage road (and back) can be found here.
It was Steve's passion for this club, dedication to our cause and commitment to seeing a task through that has made the BT Buddies Watford F.C. Day possible and we know you will all do both the Brister family and BT Buddies proud!
Steve's last official message to all that had supported him was just 36 hours after launching his fundraising page; "I would like to say a big thank you to everyone for the awesome support shown to both BT Buddies and to myself. To raise £895 within 36 hours of going live is quite astonishing and I appreciate it so much as does Mrs B, it does us so much good. It just goes to prove the power of the BT Buddies family and the WFC family pulling together. Thank you x"
Since then Steve's family, friends and fellow hornets have blown us all away by raising over £5,455! On behalf of Steve, his family and all of us here at BT Buddies I would like to say a very big thank you for your continued support.
Now all that's left for me to say is 'Come on you 'orns!', get clocking up those miles and help us reach our 5,581 mile target!
